47th Anniversary

On Tuesday the 1st of Sept I drove to Tulsa as Dennis and I left out at 7 am on our anniversary trip. Our flight took us from Tulsa to Charlotte North Carolina then on to Akron/Canton Ohio. We stayed at the Holiday Inn as on tripadvisor it had a great rating even the restaurant. The hotel was in remodel and electricity went off early so no sleeping in for sure. We went to a Bob Evans restaurant for breakfast and we were impressed. Then we headed off to the NFL Hall of Fame. Took us 4 hrs to see it all could not figure out why they sell 2 day tickets.

After our Hall trip we decided to drive to Cleveland to see Lake Erie. Couldn’t put our feet in it but worth seeing. From OK seeing lots of water impressive. While driving back to Canton we decided to drive to Niagara Falls and decided to just check out and stay in. Niagara

I made the biggest mistake. I booked on hotels.com. I said NY but it came up the Sheridan ON the Falls with great room overlooking the falls. Sounded great. Problem is it was in Canada. Did not see that. Hit book and was happy. Big problem it was non refundable I got the email confirmation showing Canada. Yikes. Dennis did not have his passport. I talked him into leaving his briefcase. I have the passport card so no problem there. But!!!! I called the hotel. The assured me that if we booked with Sheraton AT the Falls it could be transferred. Called got it all setup and off we went. Problem 2 is it was raining hard I did not setup the nav on the car so I am talking on the phone and Dennis is trying to find his way. After getting it all setup I was able to tell nav the toll roads was ok as it had blocked toll roads and nav said it was 299 miles and my phone said 198. Cut a lot of miles and time off.

We checked into our new hotel. Sorry no view of the falls. And then talked to the concierge about tours she booked us at 11 on the 5th but warned us that we would not be going to Cave of the Winds too many people on a Saturday.

5th of September. Anniversary 47. We got up early, ate breakfast at TGI Fridays then got on the tour bus. Our 4 grand tour lasted 6 hrs and we did not get to see all on the list to see. But oh well we were pretty worn out. Road the Mist of Winds boat right to the edge of the falls. I put my camera in a zip lock bag and got pretty good videos

After the tour we drove north to Fort Niagara and toured the fort and we wanted to see Lake Ontario. Then returned to Niagara Falls area.

For our anniversary dinner we at the Red Coach Inn a small elegant place recommended to use by the concierge of the hotel.

We had to head out the next morning to get back to the Akron/Canton airport and fly back to Tulsa by way of Charlotte, NC

We called Mike and Maria inviting them to go with us to Claremore museum of guns. They had Lyndon along and we all had a great visit will looking at a zillion guns of all type. After leaving the museum we drove to the Will Rogers museum. It is beautiful and interesting BUT the air conditioner system has mold. I had to get outside. I reported it to the woman we paid when we entered and she looked blank if you are not allergic you never notice.

From there we went to Los Cabos to eat with the Huffs
