William was due to be born on Jan.18th but he was ready to come on Jan 13. Kelli went to her dr. for her last checkup when the dr. told her she was in labor and to go straight to the hospital. Kelli called me and I called Dennis who was in Tulsa. I waited for Dennis to drive straight to Lawton and then off we headed. We were not a few miles from the house when Kelli called back to say there was a problem with Will. He had a heart defect. They halo flighted him to a hospital to downtown Houston Hermann Memorial Children’s. Will actually had the main two arteries not twisted as it was suppose to do at about 20 weeks. then they found his coronary arteries were not correct. it was suppose to have 3 and he had one. They waited one week and did the two surgeries. The only problem then was close to the heart is the nerve to his throat which they might have damaged or cut as he then could not suck as part of this vocal cords were paralyzed. Will had to stay in the hospital for a total of 4 weeks. The put in a G Tube so he could be fed, Dennis and I stayed there 10 days to help out then Kelli and Josh worked out a plan to take turns one day with Will one day with the girls.
Another thing that happened Kelli had a c-section with her second and when she arrived at the hospital the old scar broke open and if she had not been at the hospital at that time we would have lost both her and baby Will.
He is such a beautiful boy always happy and loves his grandpa Dennis.
