Trip to Honolulu

We stayed at the hotel in the Houston airport as the flight was leaving out very early the next morning. Best place as I checked in on my phone and the key was on the phone how cool is that. We used the tram to go to the terminal the next morning. All going well. The plane did not have “blue water” so had to wait for that then had to de ice (not griping on safety). We landed in Phoenix with 10 minutes to spare but they had already closed the gate. So got into line to be rebooked they wanted to put one in coach after paying for first class to sit in coach. I luckily was able to book at crown plaza hotel and we were able to check in at 10 am. To take a nap to refresh We rented a car and drove around out to a mining area. They guy booked us the next day but put us across from each other so on opening the gate we were able to sit together.

Flew out of Phoenix to Honolulu. No problem a little choppy.

Dennis and I rented a car to explore the island. The first day we went to north side. While driving we saw a seal laying looked dead We then stopped at a place with Pounders restaurant for late lunch before continuing on to sightsee the area. The north side is a big surfing area with beautiful waves. Traffic there was pretty slow but great to watch the surfers. We then went on to Dole plantation where I was able to get non dairy ice cream pineapple flavored.

On our second day of touring we went south to Diamond head State Park. We could not park as the lot was full so continued on where we stopped to see the mongoose and went on to see the blow hole. The next thing we know we are back in the area where the seal was. It was not dead just sleeping I could see his tail moving. The area was roped off so people would not bother them I will say this they have public bathrooms all over the island some clean some very dirty.

The Evan Huff wedding was held on Magic Island. What a great place with the water and Waikiki behind them The pastor who married them blew on a conch shell for the bride to walk towards them. Such fun. Then a young guy sang and played the ukulele. Beautiful. The reception was at their hotel. Excellent treatment to all of us. After it was over we were standing out on the patio enjoying each other when a guy up above threw something wet on us. It hit Unai, Francis and myself. Man it was ice cold!! Then when got to looking there was a red tint on the wet spots on our shirts. Figure it was wine. One of the waitresses informed security who came to talk to us. Fern told him a guy on 4th floor. Never heard what was done.

On Friday we took Fern to see the countryside. Sadly the seals were gone back to sea.
